BIRDS OF AVALON Announce New Album on Volcom * US Tour w/ Fucking Champs!

Announce New Album "Bazaar, Bazaar" out May 22nd on Volcom * US Tour w/ Fucking Champs, Red Fang, and more!

“Led by a pair of guitarists who seem, by sheer force, to be powering their amplifiers rather than the other way around, Birds of Avalon make thunderous, precise rock with enough proggy smarts to keep you on your toes.” Steve Haruch for the Nashville Scene

"North Carolina's Birds of Avalon mine from decades-past ghosts. Psyche, arena, glam—it's all in there. But Birds of Avalon expertly traverse all this information, picking up what they like and adding it to a sound that's simultaneously familiar and new." The Portland Mercury

After a 7-year stint in a prison van with the double drum, frenetic rock n’ roll assault known as The Cherry Valence, guitarists Cheetie Kumar and Paul Siler, felt a growing desire to move on. In a final whirlwind year that saw The Cherry Valence touring Europe multiple times, the couple, Kumar and Siler, got married and made the difficult decision to divorce their band.

Returning home hitched and band-less, they began late night clandestine meetings with neighbor and local crooner Craig Tilley (The Weather), where they hatched a plan to form Birds of Avalon and laid the foundation for what was to become the first batch of Birds Of Avalon songs. Still needing to round out their line up they snared their favorite area drummer Scott Nurkin (Dynamite Brothers) and soon added multi-instrumentalist and fanatical 4 tracker, David Mueller on bass.

With the release of their debut full length, Bazaar, Bazaar, Birds Of Avalon have developed a unique psychedelic meets progressive sound that yields feelings that transcend the conventions of both. Skillfully channeling elements of a time in Rock since past, while maintaining their place in the lineage of North Carolinian independent rock heritage. Easily traversing an area between raw blues rock and atmospheric pysch-pop. Birds Of Avalon “can tear it up in a three-minute barn-burner or lure you into an extended psychedelic journey, wandering schizophrenically like a Brian May guitar solo,” so says Jens Lekman of Cincinnati City Beat.

Bazaar, Bazaar is set for release on May 22nd on Volcom Entertainment and was recorded and produced by Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Let’s Active, Wilco), Greg Elkins and Brian Quast.

WITCH'S HAT Announces "Mastery of the Steel"

WITCH'S HAT Announce Debut Full Length "Mastery of the Steel"

"Mastery of the Steel takes an original approach to rock music, and it gives new meaning to the concept of a timeless album." - Vox Magazine

"Mastery of the Steel is Columbia, MO cult rockers Witch's Hat's first album. Overall, the album successfully tames the snarling hellbeast that is the band's live shows onto record." - Sno-Cone Magazine

Following the recent success of The Foundry Field Recordings' album "Prompts/Miscues," and a sweet national distribution deal with the famed Alternative Distribution Alliance, (ADA), Emergency Umbrella Records is proud to announce the national debut release from the Adventure Rock band Witch's Hat on April 10th 2007.

Undeniably epic, somewhere between Iron Maiden and dance punk, Witch’s Hat brings forth its own signature brand of mountainclimbing-alien-vampire-dragon-octopus-robot-induced Adventure Rock. Not unlike Andrew WK, Tenacious D, Dragonforce, or Journey, Witch's Hat's "Mastery of the Steel" creates intimate visions of ancient and future worlds and boldly slays the line between darkly menacing and delightfully playful - with only the slightest hint of irony.

For instance, “Huzzah,” is an invigorating tale of a young medieval hero determined to save the virgin princess, where as, “Glodyany 1972,” is a haunting narrative of a vampire hunted by angry torch wielding towns-people. Also included in the album are
a few straight-ahead dance floor gems like, “Supply and Demand.” This particular song utilizes a simple truth chorus by pointing out how, “the law of supply and demand holds true: You supply the love - I demand it from you.”

Such mythos and bravado are obviously atypical song fodder, and Witch’s Hat revel in their glorious over the top whimsy raid. [This cheeky character trait becomes even more apparent at the ultratheatrical live shows - which revive the much missed and lamented role of the front-man as entertainer first and foremost.

The record’s true strength lies in its clever lyrics and detailed compositions, which are expertly arranged and demand a serious listen far beyond the fantasy-laden subject matter. The characters are built with a narrator’s expertise so that one can’t help but feel the emotion in each story. Mastery of the Steel takes an original
approach to rock music, and it gives new meaning to the concept of a timeless album.
Dynamic and entertaining medieval meets modern artwork and signage.

To date, Witch's Hat have performed w/ the likes of Aqueduct, Vive Voce, The Paper Chase , Earl Greyhound, Bobby Conn, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, and more.

LEWIS & CLARKE Announce and Stream "Blasts of Holy Birth * Come to Brooklyn on Saturday!

LEWIS & CLARKE
Announces Details of new Album "Blasts of Holy Birth" * Streams Full Record * Comes to Brooklyn on Saturday

"Lewis & Clarke has carved out its own niche thanks to the lush arrangements of its debut, 2005's "Bare Bones and Branches." - Billboard Magazine

"A whisper of an album, lovely without being precious, moody without being beleaguering." - No Depression

"Lou Rogai, who records under the name Lewis & Clarke, artfully mixes his multi-layered vocal tracks with finger-picked acoustic guitar, Hammond organ, Rhodes piano, and lap steel." - Acoustic Guitar World

"A gifted newcomer" - Magnet

"An intelligent revelatory light into the heart of life and love" - Detroit Metro Times

The songs of Lewis & Clarke are medicinal, meditative, and trance-inducing. They wind along lengthy lines of chamber folk, full of bows and bells, aphorisms and dreamy dreams. Both literally and figuratively, Blasts of Holy Birth (out May 10th on La Société Expéditionnaire) is about being born and re-born.

Conducting the folds of nylon-string guitar, harp, keyboard, horns, strings, and drums, is Lou Rogai, the voice and vision, with arms of friends draped in the name Lewis & Clarke.

Rogai is a pastoralist, a rat-race expatriate, an old-soul musician who chose to live more deliberately with his family under the eaves of mountain trees in Pennsylvania’s Delaware Water Gap. It is a community distant to the big city’s pace, but close enough for gigs and recording sessions with his city-folk colleagues. Among them are Russell Higbee (harp, keys) of Man Man and Eve Miller of Rachel’s (cello) who, too, embrace the exploration of sinewy eastern melody and unaffected compassion called Lewis & Clarke.

In Delaware Water Gap, one can tune in to vibrations that only exist in certain areas. It is here that Rogai, with his wife, took to nest in an antiquated dwelling within earshot of an historic jazz landmark: tuned in, turned on, and just far enough away from the rattle of the rest of the world.

Blasts of Holy Birth was written not with the usual pen-in-hand love-lost scribbles that song scribes commonly sing; here are celebrations, hand-in-hand, of life’s travails and joys!

"A pure music experience that whispers half-remembered truths to the soul, as Rogai easily soars above so-called "acid folk"/"freak folk" conventions by exhibiting amazing clarity and a sense of spaciousness in his songs... striking in its authenticity and ability to convey empathy and even inspiration. It is gentle and wild, an abundant feast of simple fare that nourishes the heart." - The Morning Call

Lewis & Clarke songs are long and unhurried life lessons, believed and still unveiling truths, to himself and his son, who was months away from LIFE: Day One while this album was being composed. The only piece here not written by Rogai, “Comfort Inn”, is by his friend, Aaron Ross, the CA mountain dweller and singer of Hella. Ross was awaiting the birth of his daughter during same time that Rogai expected his son, and so it only fit that they share in each other’s song.

Over the last few years, Lewis & Clarke have toured and performed with Isobel Campbell (Belle & Sebastian), Blur, Robyn Hitchcock, Joan of Arc, Okkervil River, Mi & L'au, The Black Swans and other contemporaries.

And as is the case with good artists and smart adults, it is through big change and artistic redemption that we re-learn who we really are. And as the meat of life is inseparable from the weight of song, Lewis & Clarke’s heavy-duty beauty, Blasts of Holy Birth, is born.

See Lewis & Clarke live this Saturday @ Union Pool in Brooklyn!
(484 Union Ave @ Meeker)
Lewis & Clarke will perform as a duo this Saturday at Union Pool in Brooklyn, Lou Rogai on guitar/vocals and Eve Miller on cello. Missing from the fold will be regular contributor Russell Higbee, as he finishes up the new MAN MAN record in Chicago. In Rogai's words, both Higbee and Miller are key contributors to Blasts of Holy Birth, along with Dave Ulrich. "The exciting part about having such illustrious colleagues is that you never know which line-up of Lewis & Clarke you are going to witness". We can only assure you, the different incarnations are equally beautiful and elastic! Can we get a witness?

MAN MAN Finish Recording New Album * Announce US Tour * Takes Icy Demons Along for the Ride!

“Man Man exhibits a varied flair for macabre theatrics that includes a veritable world's fair of chaos and creation.” - Billboard Magazine

"Man Man creates a slippery tapestry with the authentic bearing of sea shanties run through a complex funhouse of loopy distortions, secret passageways and mirrored corridors." - Harp Magazine

“[They cram] boozy Brecht-flavored shout-alongs into shaggy waltz and oompah rhythms, with plenty of jazzy, engaging instrumental colors.” –
Entertainment Weekly

“When Man Man tour, they tour hard.” - Pitchforkmedia.com

It's been a crazy and beautiful time for the Man Man folks since the release of the critically acclaimed "Six Demon Bag" (appropriately released one year ago today on the Ace Fu imprint), and on Monday, courtesy of Icy Demons member Griffin Rodriguez and Shape Shoppe Studios in Chicago, the band will emerge once again w/ something completely new, unique, and awe-inspiring.

After releasing an album that moved a generation of fans around the world by destroying crowds in the states on their, seemingly endless, US tours (taking brief stops to own your souls @ last year's Pitchfork, Siren, and SXSW Festivals), performing all the while w/ some of today's hottest bands, to bringing their live show over seas for the first time ever, and landing on the cover of hometown Philadelphia Weekly's year-end issue, Man Man has proven to be one of the most exciting bands of our time. Their brand of, what has been called, "gypsy-carnival-blues-punk," has inspired a rabid fanbase from coast to coast. Foaming for singer Honus Honus' every lyric and piano ridden, Jackson Pollock-esque masterpiece, speechless while watching drummer, Chris "Pow Pow" Powell's thundering, obliterating, sky rocketing performance, and marveling at members Sergei Sogay, Alejandro "Cougar" Bjorg, and Chang Wang, as they endlessly juggle instruments from guitars, bass, sax, xlyophones, didgeridoos, and children's toys, to create a spectacle of sheer brilliance, brought to us in a way only one band knows how.

Now, one year later, the group emerges from the studio, new songs in tow, to unleash sparkling new gems to an exclusive few.

JESU Releases "Conqueror" TODAY * Delay Launch of US Tour

JESU Releases "Conqueror" TODAY * Delay Launch Date of US Tour

"Conqueror casts 16-bpm doom through a psychedelic-pop lens, resulting in some of the most tuneful, heart wrenching, and - dare we say it - beautiful music of Broadrick's career." - Revolver Magazine

“4.5 out of 5- The First Essential Album of 2007” - Alternative Press

"Dripping heavy, cascading walls of sound, U.K. shoegazing trio Jesu -- helmed by Justin Broadrick, with Diarmuid Dalton and Ted Parsons in tow -- churn out static-edged mini-epics." - Spin.com

"As has come to be expected from Jesu, Conqueror obliterates everything in its path." - Pitchforkmedia.com

Upon the release of 'Conqueror', and for the first time ever, JESU will be coming to the US, touring the span of the country w/ the monsterous ISIS! However, due to work visa issues, the start of this tour has been slightly delayed by a handful of shows, read the statement from Justin Broadrick's blog below:

"We are sorry to report that Jesu are still stuck in England and will NOT be playing the Spaceland, L.A headline/release party ; work permits for Jesu have still not been cleared by U.S officials/customs and the band are not allowed into the U.S until the permits are officially cleared. The band are yet to receive a date of clearance and simply have to wait until they do so before entering the U.S, hence Jesu will not be appearing at any shows with ISIS until the permits are available and Jesu can leave England.

Please watch this space for further news ; once Jesu have their permits we will post confirmation of this and the first show that Jesu will play in the U.S.
Hopefully the band will not miss more than the first week of this tour, being the bands first tour of the U.S.

In related Jesu live line up news, Jesu bass player Diarmuid Dalton will not be playing any of the U.S dates due to being refused a work permit for the U.S for this tour. Diarmuid has been replaced for this tour by long time collaborator (and fellow Birmingham, England native) bass player Dave Cochrane (Justin and Dave played together in Head Of David, Sweet Tooth, Ice, God and now their new project together GREY MACHINE).

Drummer Ted Parsons has also been unable to make this first Jesu U.S tour due to family commitments and has been replaced by drummer Danny Walker, a Los Angeles native who plays for many bands including Intronaut.

Thank you"

We will be sure to keep you posted on the status of this situation.

More on Conqueror:
Justin K. Broadrick triumphantly returns with his second Jesu full-length (the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed Silver EP), Conqueror. Out February 20th, courtesy of Hydra Head, and packed with eight gorgeously hypnotic tracks in just over an hour, Conqueror exhales a dreamlike mist of weighty celestial ambience, underwater phantasms and slow-rolling nebulae, fomenting the kind of kaleidoscopic rapture—brimming with lush electronics, dulcet guitar textures, massive riffs, and lavish atmospheric hues—that makes us swear we’re on drugs.

^ big mother-fuckin ups ^

In addition, and in recognition of Mr. Broadrick's surreal achievements in his musical career, he has been acklowdged w/ his first ever US magazine cover for Jesu, courtesy of Philadelphia-based extreme-metal publication, DECIBEL Magazine! Decibel, and writer Anthony Bartkewicz, bring us an in-depth retrospective on Broadrick's career, spanning from his time in hugely influential bands including Godflesh, Napalm Death, Techno Animal, Final, and others. Featuring interviews w/ those who have worked alongside Mr Broadrick, including the highly inspirational hip-hop MC EL-P (amongst others), the fantastic article highlights Broadrick's achievements and history in this stunning and groundbreaking biography.

CLOCKCLEANER Announce US Tour * SXSW Appearance * New Record on Load!

Philadelphia's CLOCKCLEANER Announce U.S. Tour w/ Times New Viking * SXSW Appearance * Fall Album on Load!

"Clockcleaner plays relentless noise-rock dirges with no room for air and a chest-thumping dynamic, as dissonance splinters off of the heavy delay/reverb processing like broken glass from a shattered picture window." - Dustedmagazine.com

"Sharkey’s vocals are clearly from the mewling, ranting, staggering School of David Yow." - Decibel Magazine

"Clockcleaner's affront is equal parts Butthole Surferania irreverent punk and big-bore Rapeman noise delivered with in-the-red abandon." - Baltimore City Paper

Pummeling drums, drooling vocals and diamond-toothed chainsaw guitar all come together in an ugly display of volatile rock 'n' roll that equally brings to mind old Chicago noise-rock, highway construction work, brutal hangovers and, well, Flipper (remember them? They were sick!). - Erik Bader, Philadelphia Weekly

Introducing your new favorite punk rock band kiddies. Philadelphia's CLOCKCLEANER, who are, "basically not allowed to play in Philly," perform 70's inspired sci-fi punk not-unlike skull pummeling artists No Trend or Bauhaus.

Led by ex-Nine Shocks Terror member John Sharkey on guitar and vocals (who, after a bad car wreck had amnesia throughout the recording of their last record, "Nevermind"), Karen Horner (formerly of the band Green Apple Quickstep) on bass, who proclaims "Philadelphia is made of pussies," and drummer Richie Penetrator who, prior to the band, modeled footwear for Fila and various department stores to get a paycheck, CLOCKCLEANER'S live show is something like being awake during a Nightmare on Elm Street dream while simultaniously experiencing epileptic seizures as those blade-ridden gloves find themselves in various orafices (see also Birthday Party).

Watch the live video of "Missing Dick" HERE

CLOCKCLEANER'S albums are something of collectors items, and on Tuesday, the band will release their second single, "Frogrammer," followed by the band's second full length "Babylon Rules" this September on Load Records. Featuring the song "Vomiting Mirrors" which is currently streaming on the band's Myspace page, the album is a dark and twisted look into the human psyche.

NADJA Announces New Album "Touched"

Breaking News!

NADJA Announces New Album “Touched” out March 13th on Alien8 Recordings!

“An album that combines weight and beauty and omnipresent fuzz into a lovely package.” – Metalreview.com

“They take the old grinding sonic palette of indecipherable and ripping vocals over thundering guitars, rot it, and stick its head underwater.” – Pitchforkmedia.com

The music really speaks—and feels—for itself.” – Decibel Magazine

Combining dirge-like metal riffs and heavy, minimal percussion with ethereal melodicism and something of a shoegazer asthetic, Nadja attempts to create a swirling, amorphous wall of sound that is both obliterating and uplifting. Nadja’s sound has been compared to such groups as Godflesh/Jesu, Halo, Khanate/Sunn 0))), Boris, Esoteric, and Earth, among others.

Nadja is a duo of Aidan Baker (guitars, vocals, strings, woodwinds, drum machines) and Leah Buckareff (bass, vocals) currently based in Toronto, Canada. Nadja came to life in 2003 as a solo project of experimental/ambient musician & writer Aidan Baker (Die Stadt, Mystery Sea, Drone Records) as something of a flipside to his solo material; a means of exploring the darker, noisier, and heavier side of atmospheric and experimental music. Nadja became a duo in late 2004.

Following a string of cdr releases, Nadja’s CD debut, Truth Becomes Death, was released in October 2005 on Montreal’s Alien8 Recordings and deals with themes of artificial life and intelligence, conflating the 15th Century legend of the Golem of Prague with contemporary ideas of computer-based artificial intelligences. Picking up where Truth leaves off, Touched is an epic masterpiece, a wall of sound like no other. Hypnotic, trance inducing, and pummeling, Touched is a poetic masterpiece of emotion and aggression.

Nadja is essentially drone-god Aidan Baker’s contribution to doom. The result is something akin to Godflesh covering Troum, all trance beats at the speed of crawl as a universe of dark ambient sound and melancholy riffs revolves around those narcoleptic beats. Elements of psychedelia, free jazz, drone, and experimental music all come into play with the ambient and melodic elements, but it’s the subterranean riffs of despair that make it so doomlike. The future of doom? The world should be so lucky… Bio courtesy of Dead Angel.

2. Stays Demons
3. Incubation / Metamorphosis
4. Flowers of Flesh

“If you're looking for something different, important and fun (all at the same time), then I can think of no CD that fits the bill as well as Red-Eyed Soul.” – Punknews.org

"The word "unique" doesn't even describe half of the qualities that make the WORLD INFERNO / FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY a compelling recorded and live act. This compact of friends and roaring musicians is "disorderly conduct" in motion, enacted with a fervor that cannot be washed out." - Pastepunk.com

"Showtune-esque vocals, plenty of horns, and hooks that are impossible *not* to sing along to." - Alternative Press

"A raucous, nine-person cabaret act that introduced a welcome touch of anarchy to the cozy Caucus Patio" - Entertainment Weekly

WATCH! (beautiful)

Punk rock? Swing? Cabaret? Whatever you choose to call them, the
collective known as World/Inferno Friendship Society has been an East Coast
staple for the past decade. Originally known for bringing their brand of
circus inspired anarchist-swing-punk to rooftops, basements, halls, churches
and anywhere their fire-breathing mayhem was accepted, the band created a
cult-following (especially in the New York City metropolitan area) that is
so magical, their live appearances are the most intense and eagerly
anticipated events of the weekend.

With a cast of characters so awe-inspiring, not only can’t the audience keep
itself from dancing uncontrollably, it also won’t keep its eyes off the
beauty, originality, and diversity that exists within the band itself.
Their live shows and music creates a feeling of unity and importance that is
incredibly necessary for every punk rock and music fan who are fortunate
enough to know of their existence.

Honest, stimulating, and incredibly gifted as musicians, World/Inferno
continue to craft some of the most energetic music around. Red-Eyed Soul (recorded by master-mind Don Fury) is a fifteen track powerhouse of driving and touching music, that proves the band not only stand atop most everything being produced today, they show a maturing that provides an album of unparalleled complexity and talent that will be sure to make new fans for the punk rock scene and (way) beyond.

The World/Inferno Friendship Society
Jack Terricloth - Vocals
Sandra Malak - Bass/Background Vocals
Lucky Strano - Guitar
Semra Ercin - Percussion/Background Vocals
Franz Nicolay - Keyboards/Accordion
Maura Corrigan - Alto Saxophone
Peter Hess - Tenor Saxophone
Ken Thomson - Baritone Saxophone
Ben Kotch - Drums

NYC's disturbingly cult-like, circus-related, Halloween-tent-revival orchestra The World/Inferno Friendship Society perform Red-Eyed Soul show tunes for the swarming punk rock masses. The World/Inferno Friendship Society is not a rock band with a horn section; it's a fully-integrated orchestra of young men and women writing for you songs of the wine, freedoms and foibles which make life more than waking up and going to work every day. Nine pieces - 2 drummers 4 horns 2 guitars way too many teeth a piano and an accordion. Sign the fuck up!

Fate, my friends, loves the Fearless. And We, in turn, love You. Don't turn away from love, friends--don't be chicken. THE WORLD/INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY is all the proof you need. With songs so sweet and a quicksilver beat, a lean 9-piece orchestra of girls and boys plays the cabaret-soul-punkety soundtrack to your romances and disasters. The vaudeville circus you always wished your life could be can be--just come and see!

AEREOGRAMME Releases "My Heart Has A Wish..." * Announces US Tourdates!

** AEREOGRAMME **
Releases "My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go" TODAY * New Video for "Barriers" * US Tourdates w/ A Northern Chorus!

"B's voice is as soft as Egyptian cotton sheets, sure, but it's also a perfect contrast to every guitar flare-up and whiplash drum roll. Not to mention a peanut-butter-to-jelly complement for the band's increasingly orchestral string arrangements. Every soaring passage, every climatic swan dive is beginning to sound as if it were recorded mid-concert by the Boston Pops." - Decibel Magazine

"My Heart Has a Wish That You Would Not Go is the finest rainy-day driving music you’ll hear this year and the best soundtrack to a movie no studio has the balls to make." - Alarm Magazine

"9 out of 10" - Drowned In Sound

"Breathtaking." - Pastepunk.com

WATCH The New Video for "Barriers" HERE!

“At the door, the curator took the old man’s hand with an extra firmness. “My heart has a wish, Father: that you would not go.” THE EXORCIST by William Peter Blatty.

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND: After reemerging in North America with two releases in 2006 - the Seclusion mini-album and their In The Fishtank collaboration with ISIS - Scotland's AEREOGRAMME (Craig B., Iain Cook, Campbell McNeil and Martin Scott) return with their most accomplished studio effort to date and plans to tour the U.S. for the first time in four years.

Snappily entitled My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go, Aereogramme’s third full-length album is an ambitious, cinematic and beautiful beast. Produced by Aereogramme and Martin Doherty, the album was recorded in Glasgow at 4th Street Studios and will be released in North America on February 6, 2007. The album will be preceded in the UK by a 7" single featuring the song “Barriers” and B-Side “Dissolve.” There will be a video for “Barriers” by animator Hugo Cuellar.

Trading in the sludgy, metallic heaviness that filled half of Seclusion for a more serene, pensive feel, My Heart Has A Wish ... explores the quieter side of the group's musical landscape. If not borne out of adversity, My Heart Has A Wish… was certainly influenced by physical affliction: Following an endless run of touring and an over reliance on the products of Messrs. Jack Daniels and Phillip Morris, Craig B succumbed to a brutal throat infection in early 2005 which effectively rendered him mute for several weeks. Adjusting to his temporarily Trappist existence, Craig began writing songs for what would become My Heart Has A Wish… His condition would not only set the tone for his writing, it would fundamentally alter its style: previous use of quiet/loud formulas and cathartic screaming were jettisoned in favor of a more restrained -- though no less powerful -- approach.

The title is taken from William Peter Blatty’s book, The Exorcist: Craig B explains the choice: “It’s a really beautiful line from the book which never made it into the screenplay surprisingly. It’s from the first chapter as Father Merrin decides to return to America and says farewell to his friend. It’s simply loaded with foreboding, resignation and hope - which seemed to resonate with our outlook going into this album, so it worked on a number of different levels.”

From the exhilarating rush of album opener, “A Conscious Life For Coma Boy,” to the sun-dappled love song of “You’re Always Welcome,” My Heart Has A Wish That You Would Not Go navigates a course through the human condition that’s both joyous and melancholy, often at the same time. The musical references along the way are eclectically bold and fearlessly varied: “Running Man” unapologetically recreates splashes of 80’s sci-fi electronica; the minimalist beauty of “Exits” recalls the work of Cliff Martinez; “Finding A Light” touches on the melodramatic epiphany of a Bob Fosse musical while the first single, “Barriers,” plunders Anne Rice’s imaginings to evoke the twisted, fucked-up regality of a vampire ball. When you add to this the elegiac exploration of wistful escapism during The Great War (“Trenches”) and the maddening reflections on forlorn brotherhood in the epic “Living Backwards,” you have a collection of songs shot through with the kind of singular ambition that puts many of Aereogramme’s peers to shame.

CLOUDS Release "Legendary Demo" * Tour the UK w/ Stephen Brodsky's Octave Museum!

*** CLOUDS ***

Release "Legendary Demo" Today * Tour the UK w/ STEPHEN BRODSKY'S OCTAVE MUSEUM!

<

"Imagine the sleaziest juke joint in America, the kind where prostitutes gamble on live cock fights. Fill it with smoke from all sorts of illicit substances, a couple big burly dudes riding their Harleys across the bar, then dump about two inches of the cheapest beer you could all over the floor. Clouds is about that rock." - Aversion.com

"These dudes can seriously shred." - Absolutepunk.net

They say you can take the kid out of the rock, but you can’t take the rock out
of the kid…or some shit like that. This is especially difficult when “the kid” in
question is Cave In’s Adam McGrath, fearless leader and vocalist/guitarist of
Clouds, an outfit that delivers unbridled action-rock harking back to the
mid/late-’90s Man’s Ruin garage onslaught—which, in turn, owes its
collective hearing loss to the likes of the Wipers, the Bad Brains, the Stooges,
and the MC5. So you can see what kind of lineage we’re talking about here.
But wait—that’s not all these Boston gents have to offer: From nasty psych
and Southern power grooves to (believe it or not) “Party Grunge” and
sax’d-out dub, Legendary Demo has it all. Unlike anything else in Hydra
Head’s vast back catalogue, this is truly a revelation.

Clouds defines band incest like no other! Their ranks feature current and/or
former members of Cave In, Kid Kilowatt, 27, Miltown, Suicide File, Hope
Conspiracy, The A-Team, Righteous Jams (for two shows), Panic, Green
Island (ska band), Permanent Damage, Piebald’s touring band, Zozobra’s
upcoming touring band, and even a former Cast Iron Hike roadie! How’s that
for a “selling point”?

Though they wear their influences on their sleeves proudly, Clouds stand
apart from their progenitors because the melting pot sounds unique. They
lock and stock their way through a full length’s worth of manic tracks that
meld (seriously, folks) ZZ Top, the Stooges, Karp, Sun Ra, and the Bad
Brains. Backed by in-the-pocket rhythm chops and fronted by dual vocals,
Legendary demo amalgamates tight riffs with moodier passages.

They’re hitting the UK in February with Stephen Brodsky, and if we pray
hard enough will follow up with a US tour this spring.

DAUGHTERS Announce US and Japanese Tour Dates * Spin.com Artist of the Year?!

DAUGHTERS Kickoff Tour of Japan TONIGHT * Announce US Tourdates w/ CHINESE STARS, PELICAN, RUSSIAN CIRCLES, THE LOCUST, and CATTLE DECAPITATION * Nominated as SPIN.COM's ARTIST OF THE YEAR!

*** Vote For DAUGHTERS as SPIN.COM'S ARTIST OF THE YEAR! DOIT! ***

Providence masters of discomfort, DAUGHTERS, will be kicking off their first ever tour of Japan TONIGHT, and have also announced a full US tour, obliterating the West Coast w/ THE LOCUST and CATTLE DECAPITATION, inspiring drug induced orgies on their East Coast romp w/ CHINESE STARS, and blowing minds in the South w/ PELICAN and RUSSIAN CIRCLES! All this in support of their debut full-length "Hell Songs" out August 8th 2006 on Hydra Head!

"Galaxies heavier than its predecessor" - CMJ

"The band manages to express musically in a short timespan what many bands of this genre don't in their entire career." - Lambgoat

"Daughters split the difference between Hella and the Locust into tiny little pieces before eating the pieces, barfing them up and then eating them again." - PaperThinWalls.com

"Led by monstrous drums, metal vocals, and a general vibe of unrelenting chaos, the quintet of Alexis Marshall (vocals), Brent Frattini (guitar), Jon Syverson (drums), Nicholas Andrew Sadler (guitar), and Samuel Moorehouse Walker (bass), unleash the fury on their latest album, Hell Songs." - Spin.com

"The quintet plays less grind and more plodding doom-core (read: an amphetamine-charged Arab on Radar). They still sound like Daughters, but even more chaotic." - Decibel Magazine

Providence, RI’s DAUGHTERS, are back w/ the follow-up to their “Canada Songs” album Robotic Empire, 2003) entitled “Hell Songs,”, an entirely new approach to music in general. After their last US tour w/ epic instrumental-rock masters, Red Sparowes and Pelican and giving new meaning to the word brutal, DAUGHTERS have expanded their minds and abilities, introducing unholy and outrageous new elements to their sound, leaving behind whatever could be considered typical within their genre, and fitting in perfectly to the monstrous Hydra Head roster. At times sounding like label-mates Oxbow or cult-legends Arab-on-Radar (on steroids), “Hell Songs” hits like a Mac Truck, pummeling its listener in a way that is, to-date, unmatched.

"What the fuck you guys? The vocals: What happened to them?”
- A fan posting on Daughters’ MySpace page

After staking out a reasonably comfortable bus-stop bench near the same wretched intersection where Lightning Bolt, the Locust, Oxbow and the Dillinger Escape Plan work their filthy corners, Providence, Rhode Island’s Daughters slowly unzipped and whipped out 2003’s Canada Songs (Robotic Empire). The art-school kids shit themselves; Some Girls, Melt Banana and Doomriders went on tour with them, and the dudes over at Three One G asked them to cover a Birthday Party song (”Marry Me (Lie! Lie!)”) for a tribute compilation (Release the Bats). Last but not least, the pimps at Hydra Head came calling for sloppy seconds. They brought a bottle of Cristal, a pile of limited-edition colored vinyl and some Astroglide; pants were charmed down to at least knee-level, and nine months later, a misshapen fetus called Hell Songs was delivered by Andrew Schneider (Scissorfight, Blue Man Group, Cave In, Keelhaul).

Within seconds, it began sucking greedily at the teat of mass dissemination. It was an ugly little bastard, with an encephalitic head, and it looked suspiciously like the mailman. It shit its pants a lot, just like those goddamn art school kids, and it would not fucking shut up. So, like the socially responsible parents they are, Daughters sent it out into the world to become a twitchy, axe murderer/chronic masturbator type with a veritable laundry list of physical and mental deficiencies. Nobody hires fidgety miscreants like this anymore (not even Catholic schools), so Hell Songs returned to that wretched intersection, looking vaguely familiar to the locals, only sweatier and more viciously deranged.

Sometimes that bus stop becomes too much to withstand; sometimes he/she drinks too much and puts the lotion in the basket. Sometimes he/she forgets to take his/her medication. But that’s okay; there are some things modern medicine will never cure. He/she is looking at you right now, as a matter of fact, and he/she thinks youíre kind of cute.
