With a summer tour dubbed Cauzin' Vapors... Legalize It 2010, you know it's going to be a smoky party. And that's exactly what keeps San Diego reggae-rock band Slightly Stoopid's 420-friendly fan base coming back to its amphitheater shows each summer. - Billboard.com

In celebration of their ongoing Cauzin' Vapors... Legalize It US amphitheater tour kick off with Cypress Hill, Steel Pulse, and more (where the band will perform to anywhere from 5,000 - 20,000 of their most loyal fans), San Diego-based dub/rock/psychedelic-jam phenoms Slightly Stoopid have announced they've spent the past few months collaborating in their band-built home studio (equipped with video game room and skate ramp) with the likes of Del Tha Funky Homosapien, G Love, Barrington Levy, and Fishbone, all in preparation for their upcoming 2011 full-length release. The band has reportedly just returned home from the recent New Orleans Jazzfest where they were humbled to be joined on stage by the legendary Neville Brothers.

Knut Release "Wonder" This Week on Hydra Head * Decibel Interview and Album Spotlight

Track-by-track: Knut's "Wonder"

Half a decade has passed since Geneva quintet Knut last released a full-length, and now the wait since 2005’s Terraformer is over. The band will unleash Wonder tomorrow, an 11-track (10 if you buy the vinyl) slab of technical hardcore infused with roaring vocals and dissonant flourishes. Decibel is content to report that 16 years in, Knut still ooze spite. To get the track-by-track skinny on the record, we emailed drummer and songwriter Roderic Mounir (who was on tour in Europe), who, alongside vocalist Didier Séverin, illuminated us on the finer points of songs about people who don’t listen, “pitch-wavering wash[es] of analog noise,” and cats with a potential sixth sense regarding Eyjafjallajökull (you know, the damn Icelandic volcano).

Herra Terra Sign To The Mylene Sheath * New Album, "Quiet Geist," Out This Fall

Herra Terra was conceived by vocalist John Paul Tonelli and guitarist Gregg Kusumah-Atmadja. The duo released a 3-song demo in 2008, entitled “Organs For The Afterlife,” with help from Boston-based musicians Bad Rabbits and Irepress, and sound engineer Mike ”Mo” Lapierre (Death Cab for Cutie, Brand New, Drop Kick Murphy's). Not being able to find a permanent fixture on drums, the band played as a two piece electronic act in the New England area until 2009. After rigorously searching for a third member, the band finally recruited Brad Caetano (Arms & Sleepers, Seneca, AM/PM) on drums. From there, the group melded together their electronic and live elements, thus becoming the complete electro/rock outfit they had hoped for.

Herra Terra returned to the studio in December of '09 to work on several new tracks for the new LP, "Quiet Geist," marked for a Fall release in 2010. New and standout tracks from the album include "Lost In Labyrinth” and “No Tricks.” Herra Terra has shared the stage with some outstanding artists such as: Shiny Toy Guns, Piebald, Damone, Freeze Pop, Green Jelly, Appleseed Cast, Hot Rod Circuit, Chk Chk Chk (!!!), Bad Rabbits, Irepress, Semi Precious Weapons and many others.

Nero Order Announce Debut Album, "The Tower" * Dates w/ Liturgy and More Coming Soon

“For I am I: ergo, the truth of myself; my own sphinx, conflict, chaos, vortex—asymmetric to all rhythms, oblique to all paths. I am the prism between black and white: mine own unison in duality.” - Austin Osman Spare

San Francisco avant-metal alchemists Nero Order fuse elephantine rhythms with expansive, tragic melodies and moody, severe vocals - effectively concocting a sound that is simultaneously abrasive and consonant, dynamic and cacophonous; academic in scope and violent in delivery.

Though formed in early 2006, Nero Order has willfully chosen to stay silent and hidden, largely avoiding public appearances while focusing on crafting their Great Work: the upcoming full-length album The Tower. Consisting of four meticulously composed movements, The Tower is an exercise in duality, both aurally and aesthetically. Sonically dense, ambitiously constructed, and intensely executed, the songs that comprise The Tower are stylistically without par in the current rock landscape - though the gravity of mid-late period Neurosis, the frenetic energy of Junkyard-era Birthday Party, the minor melodic sense of Metallica’s Master of Puppets, the staggering volume and intensity of early Swans, the grandiosity of Pink Floyd’s Meddle, and the riff-obsession of Black Sabbath are all summoned therein.

Recorded live to tape and mixed in less than one full week with no digital manipulation of the signal, The Tower is an accurate representation of the band laid bare. In an age where the large majority of recording artists partake of the spoils of modern technology, we feel the above fact(s) are noteworthy, and that the approach underpinning this work ultimately serves as a testament to the quality of the material found within.

Champions of the DIY ethos, Nero Order has opted to self-fund and self-release The Tower in an effort to maintain complete creative control over their art. Thus, The Tower is being unleashed into the online realm via iTunes Plus (highest quality downloads, no DRM), Amazon, eMusic, and other online portals while audiophile-quality FLAC files will be distributed via the band’s website on a donation model where listeners can contribute to the band based upon their ability. Hand-packaged physical products (CD, vinyl) will also be available directly from the band via www.neroorder.com.

Ave atque vale!

Nero Order is:
Matt Butler - Drums, Vocals
Matt Harper - Guitar
Ross Hoyt - Bass
Alex Lindo - Vocals

Keelhaul Announce US Tour Dates w/ Unsane!

Keelhaul absolutely fucking killed it, their furious Coalesce-on-steroids onslaught leaving me wondering how this band had slipped beneath my radar for so long. - MetalSucks

Unlike so many lesser bands, the Cleveland quartet explores the extremes of heaviness and complexity without skimping on either element. - Time Out NY

Keelhaul is like the one friend that you're actually looking forward to seeing when you fly home for the holidays... Still smoking weed in the parent's basement, but, try as you might, you can't fault him for doing it because ultimately you're fucking convinced he's got some shit figured out that you're still years away from. Basically, this guy Keelhaul is a solid dude and maybe part of you wants to be him, no shame in it... most people are susceptible to societal pressures... you wanted to be an adult and you thought you knew what that meant... trips to the wine store... you should kick your own ass.

Keelhaul's Triumphant Return to Obscurity, is not just a clever name for an album title marking a band's return from obscurity, it's an album title for a band's release marking that same band's return from obscurity. init? Chris Smith, Aaron Dallison, Dana Embrose, and Will Scharf have been at it as Keelhaul for over ten years and it shows. This record picks up on the band's progression as if they were steadily releasing records throughout their six year hiatus. The pace is precise, the instrumentation is masterful and the guitar tones are absolutely appropriate. Look, your old pal Keelhaul knows what he's doing and he has no clue what a Williamsburg is, so he feels no need to overcompensate by adding strings, vibes, horns, boners (well maybe boners), harps and/or electric flutes... to his compositions... which is a damn good breath of fresh air if you ask us.

Racebannon Release New "Wrap The Body" 12-inch

Stream "Wrap The Body" here!

Never a force content to deliver obvious moves, the next release from the Racebannon juggernaut sees them joining forces with some friends and releasing...*gasp* a DJ-styled 12" release. Yes folks, Wrap the Body!

A collaboration between Racebannon and Jilly Weiss (We Are Hex), and also featuring a full-blown remix from long time friends Yea Big, Kid Static and Stak; this is Racebannon at both their weirdest and yet most recognizable. Yes, the requisite churn, chaos, and darkness are all present and yes, Mike Anderson belts out yet another genre-bending throat-box assault. The razor riffing is omnipresent, and the low-end hits like a depth charge. But the token Bannon weapons collide face-first with programmed beats, samples, and an instantly frenzied vocal contribution from Weiss, who sounds like a banshee possessed by equal parts PJ Harvey, bad acid, and Satan herself. The end result is something that is immediately memorable, catchy, scary, and downright original.

In short you are left with another boot-print across the grill that reads "Racebannon."

Consistent with the format, the 12" showcases the studio cut (recorded by Mike Bridavsky at Russian Recording), as well as instrumental and acapella versions on Side A, allowing for a multitude of utilities, listening experiences, and applications. Changing pace dramatically, the flip offers a mega-remix from Yea Big, who gives Wrap the Body a glitchy, organ-driven rework that keeps the essence of the original intact while leaving an indelible blueprint of his trademark sound. Long-time collaborator Kid Static also contributes verses to the remix, as does Bloomington rapper Stak, making this a remix in the truest sense. Both rappers offer performances rooted equally in both the cerebral and the visceral spheres, and help to take the track to an entirely different ether than the original. As with Side A, instrumental and acapella versions are also on offer for the brave/DJ-minded listener.

Limited to a one-time pressing of 500 copies, this is an essential purchase for the Racebannon fanatic, as well as all DJ's and vinyl fetishists. Joyful Noise, Racebannon, and some talented contributors bring you one of the more challenging and enjoyable beat-looped, occult-driven, heavy dance disco sludge metal 12"'s you are likely to hear. Come to think of it, it will probably be the only one you ever hear. Only the brave have the mettle... (D.Britts)

* Racebannon will release their new full length, Six Sik Sisters, this August on Tizona Records.

Miss TK & The Revenge Announce New Album + Surfrider Benefit "The Ocean Likes To Party Too"

Led by the husband and wife duo of Tannis "Miss TK" Kristjanson on vocals, and Ari Katz aka "Mighty Lion" on drums, the six member gang of Miss TK & The Revenge have been dropping scattered bits of their punk disco dance hits since their 2004 debut XOXO on the legendary NJ punk label Gern Blandsten. Formed in the wake of the short lived Zero Zero (Katz has also spent the last 20 or so years as the singer for influential NJ punks Lifetime), Miss TK & The Revenge have been deep in the studio producing new tracks for the past few years, resulting in the dynamic new LP The Ocean Likes To Party Too.

Steeped in the vibe of the group's Asbury Park beachfront digs, The Ocean Likes to Party Too is a bonfire beachparty jam from the raunchy opening grooves of "Beachmaster" to the breezy convertible bounce of "Saturday" through the tweaked out electronics of "Shimmy Sha." Beneath a sheen that hits on Blondie, M.I.A. and !!! they slow burn through endless grooves under the watchful eye of producer Alap Momin of Dälek (Momin also co-wrote two of the album's tracks).

Ernest Jenning Record Co. is kicking off a new era of TK by reissuing the (previously digital-only) impeccably produced double blast of No Biterz / Future Power on 7" single for the first time, and immediately following it up with the full out non stop bounce-groove jam of "Ocean" this Summer.

Watch the video for "No Biterz" here!

* A portion of the proceeds from sales of "The Ocean Likes To Party Too" will be donated to the Surfrider Foundation to aid in their efforts w/ the recent Gulf oil spill. Learn more about the Surfrider Foundation here.

GridLink Enter Studio, Begin Recording New Album from Hydra Head

Gridlink, (if not) everyone's favorite active grindcore outfit (then it should be), are currently planted firmly at Technical Ecstasy Studios in New Jersey to record their second full-length for Hydra Head Records!!! And that's pretty much the best great news for people who like their grind skimmed exclusively from the cream of the crop. Right? I know... tell me about it... Gridlink's debut certified their position at the top of a field most bands need years to climb...but then, lets not forget that their pedigree all but demanded that they take that position... Jon Chang fronted the much name checked Discordance Axis, guitarist Takafumi Matsubara honed his technique in Japan's Mortalized, (together Chang and Matsubara also make up half of Hayaino Daisuki) and drummer Bryan Fajardo was hand picked for his years behind the kit in Phobia and Kill The Client. And now, with album numero two, the band one-ups themselves by adding... get this... half of Human Remans to the batter...Ted Patterson (also of Burnt By The Sun) picks up the bass for this tour of duty, and guitarist Steve Procopio (also Discordance Axis' touring guitarist) rounds out the now 5 piece Gridlink in a way that we can only expect this new album to be every single bit of absolutely fucking awesome that we think its going to be.

Never one to mince words, Chang kept the details close... what we can confirm, though, is this.... the album is called "Orphan" and the band has "12 songs in the can." When we get our hands on that can, we'll let you know...

Currently Gridlink Lineup:
Jon Chang . Vocals
Takafumi Matsubara . Guitar 1
Bryan Fajardo . Drums
Ted Patterson . Bass
Steve Procopio . Guitar 2

Gridlink Live!
Sunday, May 30th @ Sonar (Maryland Death Fest)
