Human Highway: Pop For Day's End

World Cafe, September 29, 2008 - Years in the making, Human Highway is the awaited collaboration between Nick Thorburn, the Unicorns-turned-Islands frontman, and Jim Guthrie of Royal City and the Juno-nominated solo release Now, More than Ever.
Named for an '80s comedy featuring the icon Neil Young, Human Highway came about from an early Islands tour. Thorburn had written a song and asked Guthrie record a song in a hotel room. Some years later, Moody Motorcycle is the final result, with harmonies that evoke the Everly Brothers and Simon and Garfunkel. It's a tad more poppier and spacier than either musician's main projects, and comes off like music perfect the conclusion of the day.
