The NY Times Previews O'Death and Chris Mills Shows!

huge thanks to Amanda Petrusich, Ben Sisario, and the entire New York Times staff!

CHRIS MILLS (Saturday) This Brooklyn singer-songwriter’s scrappy, country-tinged rock is packed with rich, enticing melodies and jangly folk instrumentation, including banjos, strings, trumpets and steel guitar. Saturday’s show is a release party for Mr. Mills’s latest LP, “Living in the Aftermath” (Ernest Jenning). With Charles Burst and Fred Thomas. At 9:30 p.m., Union Pool, 484 Union Avenue, at Meeker Avenue, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. (Petrusich)

O’DEATH (Friday) This raw and ragged New York band draws from the starkness and spiritual purity of Appalachian folk, the menace of punk and the rowdy theatricality of Tom Waits, jumbling sacred and profane. With Ponytail, Usaisamonster and Woods. At 8:30 p.m., Music Hall of Williamsburg, 66 North Sixth Street, Brooklyn. (Sisario)
