Kickoff US Tour to SXSW w/ The Slits * Announce West Coast Dates w/ King Brothers!
"I witnessed the original punk movement in the 1970's. The Slits had to wait 30 years for another one, and it's happening now- that's why The Slits are back." - Ari Up / Slits
How fitting that The Slits will tour with Starcleaner's Shellshag, long time stalwarts of the DIY punk movement. The Slits and Shellshag will be playing shows with some the most notable bands in DIY punk today, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, Fututre Virgins, Tulsa, Monotonix, Vena Cava, Gorch Fock, and Old Time Relijun.
The two are touring their way down to Texas for one of the most incredible Showcases the South By Southwest Festival has ever hosted; The Slits and The Dicks! The UK comes to Texas where the first, and most significant, all women punk band shares the night with one of the most legendary punk bands ever to come out of Texas. Don't miss history in the making!!!
More about Shellshag:
After touring the world and warming up the stages for the likes of Iggy Pop, the Cramps, Lightning Bolt, Liars, Japanther, Black Lips, Le Savy Fav, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Guided By Voices, DMBQ, Peaches and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, this Brooklyn duo have their sites set on global domination, utilizing their own blissful and abrasive blasts of raw noise as an instrument of unity.
If you’ve seen Shellshag live, then there may be a good chance that you took home a memento in the form of either a cut, bruise, welt, broken bone, burst ear drum, STD, court summons, cattle prod markings or chipped teeth. But one thing that will remain is the memory of an evening you’ll never forget.
Renowned for their ferocious shows, the duo of Shell and Jen on guitar and drums (and body percussion respectively) unleash Destroy Me, I’m Yours to the world this March, followed by a national tour with The Slits and appearances at the South By Southwest Music Conference in Austin. Destroy Me I’m Yours is a racket filled foray though the most coarse of
pop knacks from a duo holding true to an instrumental dexterity, where Jen
and Shell’s energy is wholly reciprocal and bounces through decibel
bedlam. The amount of energy and sonic stamina that some bands use in more
than one gig comes natural to Shellshag in every song.
Shellshag has also released their album "Destroy Me I'm Yours" digitally for the first time today, and have announced West Coast tourdates w/ Japan's King Brothers who some describe as The Germs backing Howlin' Wolf. Don't miss this insanity California!
