MP3 At 3PM: David Moore
Back in the ’90s, David Moore used to front Midwestern hardcore band Split Lip and, later, the more melodic, emo-by-way-of-Americana outfit Chamberlain, an underrated endeavor (1995’s Fate’s Got A Driver could’ve easily made our Lost Classics list) that lasted until 2000. Moore’s solo debut, My Lover, My Stranger (due June 23 on Doghouse), is so far from hardcore shores that you can’t even see Vic Bondi and Kevin Seconds playing beach volleyball. Moore is an amalgam of rough-hewn voices you’ve heard before—a little Springsteen, maybe some Joe Cocker or Ian McLagan and even a little Neil Diamond now and then—and he positively lives inside the songs.
