Charles Burst Announces New LP + 7" Out July 27th on Ernest Jenning!

Charles Burst is a songwriter from New York City, who, prior to launching a solo career, played drums and sang in the psychedelic and celebrated rock quintet The Occasion. Active from 2000-2006, The Occasion released two albums and toured the US with everyone from Acid Mothers Temple, Interpol, Make Believe, The Ponys and more. Since then, Burst has recorded two LP's under his own name for Ernest Jenning Records - 2009's Come Home and Feast, and The Famous Patient, due July 27th, 2010. He continues to work as a freelance drummer, joining Julian Plenti, AC Newman, and Begushkin on recent albums and tours.

The Famous Patient, and the accompanying seven inch, "Neighbor Song," produced by Phil Palazzolo (Okkervil River, New Pornographers), features contributions from longtime collaborators Patrick McCarthy (guitar), Jim D'Amico (bass), and Jason Labbe (drums), as well as Brent Cordero of The Occasion, and Israeli cello prodigy Yoed Nir (Regina Spektor, Julian Plenti).

* Much of The Famous Patient was recorded completely live in the studio with the vinyl version being the result of an all-analog recording and mastering process. There is no CD-format release of the album due yet. Brent Cordero of The Occasion guests on keyboards for "Some Things You Need to Know," "She's All You Got," "Sleeping in the Park," and the "Neighbor Song" 7-inch. The cover was taken with Kodachrome 64 film, a 74-year-old reversal film stock that was used for many classic album covers before being officially discontinued by Kodak in June 2009. The last lab in the U.S. that still processes the film will shut down their line on January 1, 2011. The LP and 7-inch covers were shot on Staten Island by photographer / musician Bryan Zimmerman (The Dust Dive, Corpse of Discovery).
